The stories other people tell.

Every company has to tell their stories to the people they hope to serve. That’s a very large part of what we help loan officers and real estate agents do every day. The stories we tell about our success can have a big impact on our target market and they can win us more business.

But this is not the most powerful type of story businesses can tell.

Far more powerful than anything we say about ourselves or our businesses are the stories others tell about their successes thanks to their relationship with us. Stories that others tell about your success will always do more than similar stories we tell.

The problem in many industries, especially on the B2B side, is that companies don’t want to see a glowing testimonial they wrote out of loyalty to a great executive or team to be used after those people leave the company and its service level drops. This is why it can be very challenging for a financial institution to tell these kinds of stories publicly.

But it does happen.

First, the company has to offer service worthy of a glowing testimonial. Second, the customer has to feel like the people responsible are likely to stay at that company. Finally, there has to be a personal relationship involved that goes beyond a single member of the company’s team to include the entire management team.
